REFEREES

Kawana Touch referees are highly valued members of our association. They are crucial to the continuity and quality of our competitions and help provide a fair, safe and enjoyable experience for all.

The minimum age to become a referee is 12 years old. Junior referees will commence their time in our junior competition and will receive mentorship and support from our junior referee coordinator while they gain confidence.

Development courses are available for the entry level referee through to those looking to continually improve their refereeing skills and knowledge and progress to the next level.

NEW Touch Football Australia (TFA) Referee Pathway

As of 1 May 2025, TFA has introduced a four-level system for our Referees as they progress through our pathways. Becoming a qualified referee is a vital step to ensuring you are prepared to officiate a game of Touch Football at the local level. Once you are a qualified Affiliate Referee, you can engage in additional courses, workshops, and development modules to enhance your skills. For those seeking to officiate in tournaments, the Grading pathway is designed to progressively challenge referees as they officiate in higher and higher environments.

Why referee with us?

Being a part of our affiliate means referees have the opportunity to tour with Kawana Touch to Junior and Senior State Cups and many other regional and state carnivals.

Refereeing has many known wellbeing benefits. Not only do referees contribute to improving the standard of a competition, they are a integral part of a welcoming community, make life-long friendships and maintain fitness along the way. Importantly, all our referees are paid!

If you wish to join our referee team or have a query for our referee coordinators, please email admin@kawanatouch.com.au.

Referee Registration

All Kawana Touch referees must be registered members of our association. This no-cost registration means you are formally recognised as part of our affiliate and helps Kawana Touch meet our constitutional requirements.
